John Weeks: basses, emotion trombone
Isaac Miranda: drums, vocals
Ryan King: guitars, vocals

Lucian Freud was formed from the ashes of many bands: Die Hard Cafe; I am the Sea; the list of acts featuring some combination of these members extends back to the 90s. It was a long standing joke that there had yet to be an album actually showcasing instruments played by these men together in a room.

At first the band was slated to be the live incarnation of the bedroom recording projects Ramyn King and Smart Hulk. They played around the city and started to develop a sound. When original songs started to evolve during practices at the Fischer compound, Lucian realized they had something special going on.

Their self-titled album is an exploration of songs without being tied to a subgenre. While at the same time, a new and unique texture of rock is uncovered. Influences include: Nirvana, Van Halen, Agent Orange, The Cure, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Butthole Surfers, Cop Shoot Cop, Cream, David Bowie, Ryu Umemoto, California X, Dead Kennedys, The Talking Heads, Devo, Archers of Loaf, Dinosaur Jr., Elliot Smith, Failure, Shellac, Pavement, Pixes, The Police, Rush, Sonic Youth, Thin Lizzy, Tony Molina, Trans Am, The Who.
